Classy Indian Food

My husband and I ate at Shikara last night, and we had a very different experience than another reviewer. The gentleman who seated us was very polite, the bus boy brought us water right away, and the waiter was very attentive. While my husband is more adventurous than I, I have only eaten at a few Indian restaurants. I never know what to order. I told the waiter that a few of the menu items looked good, but I wasn't sure. I showed him my choices and he explained them to me. I settled on Chicken Tikka Masala. My husband chose the Shikara Dinner Special. We also ordered the Vegetarian Snacks as an appetizer, as well as basmati rice and nan to go along with dinner.
The appetizer was wonderful! Each piece had it's own flavor and none of it was too spicy for my tastes. I enjoyed it all. When my entree arrived, I wasn't sure if it could top the appetizer, but it did. The aroma was so warm and inviting! The boneless chicken pieces were tender, without a single tough or "strange" piece. The flavor was so, so yummy. The chicken is cooked in an onion tomato cream sauce, which was smooth and flavorful. I just couldn't get enough, but stopped myself short of being stuffed. I took the rest home and enjoyed it again for dinner tonight. My husband enjoyed the Shikara Dinner Special, which included various chicken and fish dishes. He, too, pronounced it just as wonderful the second time around.
I definitely would go back again, just for the Chicken Tikka Masala alone. I loved the calm, graceful, serene atmosphere. We were treated well by the maitre d' and the waiter, who kept checking on us. The maitre d' especially knew I was somewhat hesitant about choosing my entree, and came by several times to see if I liked my dinner.
I hope that other diners give this restaurant a try and have the same pleasant, tasty experience that we had.
- Pros: Graceful Dining - Yummy Food
Beware!!!

Don't waste time or money on this place. From the beginning there was no greeting and a rather bothersome man that was seating customers. Drinks were sub par. The food was marginal at best. The icing on the cake though is the appalling treatment given by some gentleman that seemed to be the manager, and the argument that followed regarding the bill. I will tell everyone I know to never go to this restaurant!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Service is the worst!

The restaurant side of Ashyana Banquets dishes up bright, kicked-up versions of traditional Indian cuisine.
