Consistently great experience, knowledgeable & friendly service, excellent selections

by tfbordainick

Juicy provides a great environment for special occasions as well as a chill night out with friends. The servers are knowledeable and helpful, providing tips/recommendations. And the selections of wines, meats, & cheeses are outstanding...a nice range of prices, and always consistently great!

Juicy is one of my favorite Chicago spots!

Fun wine bar

by k2frank

I went to Juicy Wine Co on a Tues evening and had a lovely experience. The waiter/manager attended to our inexperience in their establishment, and explained the menu and offered wine choices based on what we were looking for. Yes, there is a cheesy smell when you walk in. They serve cheese. Get over it. (the smell does not follow you thru the rest of the bar or upstairs) We had a glass of wine each and paid less than $30. The manager even gave us a tour of upstairs, which is open Wed-Sun nights and has a dj on the weekends. I enjoyed it, and would recommend it for a friendly get-together with a group of girlfriends for good wine and conversation.

  • Pros: Fun and different wine selection

a place to relax and catch up with a friend

by breathefashion

My first encounter of juciywineco. was with a friend of mine after a long day of furniture shopping and it was the perfect place to unwind. I did notice the strong cheesy odor but what do you expect they specialize in wine and cheese. We sat in a corner and ordered a bottle of wine and a dessert platter of cheese. The dessert platter of cheese was honestly the best arrangement that I have ever had with a little tang and also sweetness from the raisins and honey mix. We ended up ordering 2 more glasses of wine. This place does get costly about 130 for two (but then again you might be different. I enjoy my "glasses" of wine) but you cant put a price on relaxing and unwinding after a long day for a couple hours. I can't see myself bringing a date because its not a romantic setting but I would recommend bringing a friend to sit, drink wine, and spill on the status of life's JUICY gossip.

  • Pros: great service and knowledge of the products
  • Cons: parking was a bit tricky

Worth to stop by

by johnniebgud

We have been seeing editorials for this place all over, so I had to go check it out! The place was interesting. It is a retail wine area and a deli counter, yet you can eat and drink in or take out. I didn't care for the cheesy aroma as the first thing you encounter when you walk in. It was a definite turn off. But, we browsed and then sat. We went on a Sunday night and were the only people. The seating area reminded me of a cafeteria. We ordered a glass of wine and I had some lamb prosciutto which was quite awesome. The wine list was quirky and fun, the owner definitley has a "fun" side to wine! The service was attentive and cordial. I liked it enough, but the place kinda lacked a "wow" factor. Even though they have some hard to find boutique wines, I don't think I'm driving out to pick any of them up when I got an awesome wine shoppe in my neighborhood of Andersonville. Overall, check it out, but bring your own party and plug your nose!

  • Pros: Good selection of cured meats, Attentive service
  • Cons: Funky Cheesy odor

Juicy Wine Bar too big for it's britches

by radiogirlsteph

What we hoped to be a tucked away gem, turned out be an unpleasant and overpriced experience,

Upon entering the Juicy Wine bar, a nasty and strong cheese smell welcomes you.

We rented the upstair room, which was cozy and warm. The wines were very nice, but glasses were $13-$15 for the most part. In addition, about 5 trays of cheese and fruit were $200.

What made us most uncomfortable, was how we were treated. We were constanty reminded throughout the night about the cost of our party and the limit on the time we had. When our time was up, a bill was thrust at us. We were told we had to settle, even though guests were still eating and drinking.

We were basically asked to leave, after spending a lot of money. I would not recommend the Juicy Wine Bar to a friend or business associate. The offensive behavior of the manager, has deterred us from even considering the place for future functions.

The former Iggy's space gets overhauled, the resulting space more hip-wine-and-cheese-bar than gritty-late-night-haunt.

In Short
A glassy front is odd adjacent to a vacant lot. Inside, a heady cheese aroma wafts from the glowing display, part of a sort of miniature exposed pantry where waiters fuss over jars of olives, pate blocks and hunks of bread. Wine is attractively displayed along one wall, and a dramatic cork structure covers much of the exposed brick. Seating is intimate, with a few prime corner spots. Upstairs is a small bar, a dozen scattered perches and a few loungier seats.
