I like to check a place out a couple times before I review it. My reasoning is that before I offer my opinion, I want to be sure that my experience will be able to be replicated for those relying on it. In this case, I have been to La Pomme Rouge about three times now and feel comfortable with returning and attempting to bring the rest of Chicago with me. The first thing you have to say about this place is it looks amazing. It is ornate with deep dark reds. Also, it has alot of tables so you can manage to find some place to sit. When you do sit down the staff it attentive. I mean when a place is busy you cant expect to have someone by your side at all times but I never had to really wait for another drink. The staff always offered me another drink when they noticed I was nearing an empty glass. Speaking of the staff. The girls who work there are gorgeous ... I mean they do possess many of the traits prized by the superficial man. If I wasnt so timid I might have takled to them and been able to comment beyond that. Speaking of the drinks ... there are plenty of martinis and mixed drinks to try. I however, stick to the wine and champagne which is great because they have lots of good options by the glass. If you are hungry, the food is also top notch. This is food you could expect from fine dining, not a bar. I had the crab cakes and cheese plate and would try both again. I am not sure what the past reviewer meant when they said the place wasnt safe. I wasnt there and dont know what happened. That said, I have never felt unsafe. In fact, I know the owner cares about the place because he is usually on the floor working and takes the time to introduce himself. All in all, go to LPR, find yourself surrounded in posh settings, enjoying tasty libations, while being waited on by a friendly, attentive staff!!
Pros: Great food, good glass pours, amazing atmosphere

I went out Saturday night 3/1/08 expecting to have a good time in a classy club. This obviously was not the place. This club has no security and I witnessed a woman get pounded in the face by a drunk man. Her face was bloody and she received no help from anyone in the club. The club was immediately shut down. I don't recommend this club for anyone. I would rate this no stars!!

I think the biggest draw of this place is the design. I was there recently for a party and I was astounded by how beautiful the entire restaurant is. With beautiful paintings and secluded tables, it was a nice change from the usual restaurant. The food was fairly good and their deserts were just out of this world. However, don't expect to get your food any time soon. Between every order my group made, we'd have to wait like 20-30 minutes. Even if it was for a drink. I was disappointed by the slowness of the staff as the place got busier. Overall, I was happy with the food and the atmosphere.
Pros: Great atmosphere, amazing food
Cons: Slow service, pricey for small portions

I went to La Pomme Rouge for dinner the friday night with some friends, and had an absolute blast. The easiest part to comment on is the way the interior is designed. Commisioned paintings hang behind the main bar, and the booths have fabric all around them, with the option to draw the curtains and have a completely private booth. With everything so elegant, I had high expectations for the food. I was not let down. We started with oysters, that were fresh and delicious, and then I had the ribeye steak that I couldn't get enough of. Service was impeccable. It was an outstanding dinner. I entertain people from out of town all the time, and now I can't wait to show off this new venue to all my clients. Definately my new favorite.
Pros: Delicious food, gorgeous space

I normally don't write reviews because I don't often consider my opinion one that merits the attention of the masses. In this case, however, I feel compelled to share. I was shocked to have one of the best meals I've ever had in a place that bills itself as a lounge. There was no bar food anywhere to be found. Instead, I had a caviar napoleon which, if you'll exuse the pedantic similie, was like a delicious high-class Egg McMuffin. I also had (brace for the boo-hiss) a foie gras that could have easily been on the menu at Trotter's. This is the place for anyone who wants serious cuisine minus the stuffy atmosphere. In my unsolicited opinion, you simply must try it.

I pass this place on my way to the office and had no idea that it had not officially opened when I decided to take a small group of clients there for drinks. We walked in to this beautiful (albeit empty) room at about 8 o'clock and were promplty seated in a huge table in the center of the room. I asked our waitress why we were the only ones there and she explained that they were in the middle of a soft-opening period (a friends and family kind of thing). I felt a little silly - like I had wandered in somewhere I didn't belong. I think she could tell because only moments later, an owner appeared and proceeded to guide us step-by-step through the entire menu - answering questions and inviting our opinions. I can honestly say that its the best treatment I have ever receieved in a restaurant here and to have that happen while with clients is something that I truly appreciate. The appetizers that were recommended to us were excellent and the wine pairings couldn't have been better. We had a wonderful evening here and I highly recommend it.
Pros: Pretty room and kind, respectful treatment

You should defiantly check this place out... the place is absolutely beautiful!! The booths are adorned with amazing fabrics, and gives you the privacy that makes you feel like a celerity. Food and service was excellent. After dinner my friends and I moved to the cocktail salon where we were entertained by a very knowledgeable bartender. Perfect ending to a relaxable evening. It will defiantly be the new recommended spot for all of my clients.

What a gem! My friends invited me to this new bar/restaurant and I cannot tell you how surprised I was when we got there. Its like walking into Versailles! Beautiful fabrics and painitngs everywhere - huge booths that make you feel like royalty. The service seemed a little slow but everyone was so nice that it more than made up for it. People were constantly checking our table and asking how everything wa.s. Answer? Fabulous! I had an apple/bluecheese quiche that I am still thinking about. Will so very assuredly make this one of my haunts!
Pros: Beautiful ambience, delicious food
Cons: small kinks in service
