Rio's De Sudamerica

My wife and I dined at Rio's on a Saturday night and the place was EMPTY at 6pm. Can you believe that? I'm pretty surprised to see all of the great reviews. I had no idea what to expect. We were so excited to try this place. Our food (ceviche, papa rellena, arroz con mariscos and lomo saltado) was mediocre and the service, although very pleasant, was not particularly great. Food took about 20 minutes, and drinks another 10 minutes, the wait was just tooooo long.
The say the least, it was overall quite disappointing. The food just wasn't very good, especially for the price.
PLEASE STOP WRITING GOOD REVIEWS, DONT LIE CAUSE FOR SURE THE FOOD AND SERVICE IT'S JUST HORRIBLE!
GREAT FOOD!

The food and service were great. This is the place to call to eat in and reserve for your special days/parties. I highly recommend it....
Awesome 6/6 visits!

We have been here 5-6 times & every time we have been extremely impressed. The shrimp soup is awesome. Aros con mariscos is awesome, Brochetas is awesome, the porterhouse is aweome - really 100% every time. The Tuesday drink is $4 - the Caiprinhi, is made from a good quality Argentinian sugarcane rum, lime & sugar - better than the best vodka lemonade we've ever had & it's 4 dollars) Friday are very good pitchers of Sangrias for $15. The place handles big groups, with plenty of room between tables (so you don't feel crammed in), and has really nice decor.
- Pros: Really everything
WOW WOW WOW!

WOW. Thats all I have to say. The restaurant was beautiful. I had such a great time on Saturday night and the food was unlike anything Ive ever had before. My steak was cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. Thanks Rios!!
- Pros: Everything and anything

Fantastic restaurant...great after hours entertainment and cocktails
by sweetie879
Me and a group of my girl friends decided to go to Rio's After Hours on Saturday Night...what a great idea!! The live entertainment was awesome and the cocktails were cheap. Cool neighborhood and one of the more upscale restaurants in the vicinity. You would never guess their prices were so low!!! what a steal. Great atmosphere as well. Definitely going again this Saturday!
- Pros: Atmosphere, service, prices, selection, and taste
- Cons: not alot of parking, but valet is offered
Best restaurant in Chicago!!!

This was such a great experience!! Ive never really tried South American food because it sounds so exotic and pricey, but at Rio's it was reasonably priced and very delicious! ! ! As soon as you walk in you will be amazed by the restaurant. Its beautiful. The paintings on the walls, the tall ceilings, and eccentric, yet simple decorations are breathtaking. Nice background music. The food and service was amazing. Me and my husband had ceviche, which was great, and steak and lobster dishes, which were just fantastic. They also had a large wine selection with mostly imported wines from places like Chile and Argentina......Just loved it! Highly recommended.
- Pros: Food was great, service was fast, large selection of drinks/wines, great atmosphere
- Cons: none!!
Great Place for South American Food!
by n_perez
A friend and I tried this resturant on Friday night. We had the best food I've ever tasted. I had the Ceviche de pescado which is fish marinated in lime juice with Peruvian corn and sweet potato and with every bite its as so juicy. The drinks were wonderful we had mojitos and the bartender gave us an assorment of them to choose from. MY Favorite is a Razzberry Mojito ( you have to try it). I totally recommend this place for dinner and we will be back there.!! :)
Miserable service & food, don't care attitude
by kgoede
We went on a Thursday night...the only customers in the place. The bartender suggested the papa and yuca rellenos, one meat, one seafood. Seemed like a good order because I don't eat seafood and so my companion and I could each have one. I specifically asked the bartender which had seafood. She was wrong and I had a whole mouthful of octupus. I was thoroughly disgusted...couldn't eat anything at all. I could just as easily have been allergic and then there would have been a medical problem too. The salad we ordered came out without the avocado and I had to ask for it. Considering that the place was empty, you'd think the chef/kitchen staff would be able to get things right. And would have used the opportunity to impress us with their food and service. After all that, the bartender didn't make any modifications to the bill and was pretty unapologetic. She didn't much care. Do not go to this restaurant.
- Pros: BYOB
- Cons: Don't care service, kitchen is haphazard, lacks attention to details
Very good
