Remodel a great idea
by K1queen
My girlfriends and I went to dinner at Avec on Randolf Street last weekend. We were trying to figure out a place to go and our server suggested Lumen. My first response was no. I have been there before and you cant dance (plus, the people in the club....Ugh...) One of my girls with us said she heard it had changed also so, we decided to run over and check it out.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME! The music was fantastic! The seats are higher and more comfortable! It feels like a New York club exept for the fact a manager actually came over and asked us how we were doing! My one friend made out with a cute guy....Ok, that really was me!
Definetly we'll be back! Thank you LUMEN!
Not for dancing

Went there cause some friends wanted to go (even though we were at a better club before going there). Paid $10 for entry. Didn't like the music and the dance floor SUCKED. Its hard concrete. Its more of a stand around and look at people place to me. If you really want to dance I wouldn't go there.
If you like being treated like garbage this is your place

Saturday night I was heading out to my friends birthday party. This place suppositely had no cover according to the website. Show up and they say since its after 10pm the cover is 10$ for girls and 20$ for guys. I tried to talk to the girl taking the cover about how the website didn';t say anything and how we should be able to pay 10$ each because its a birthday party and the girl inside was waiting for us. (might I add quite calmly and completely sober) We are refused and when I say "come on, its only 10:30" she waves some big bouncers to escort us out. Trying to not upset the birthday girl I agree to the guys outside that i'll pay the full cover and they tell me "you guys are trouble, your not coming in". The birthday girl is calling me and comes to check out whats going on, she asks the guys to let us in for 20$ a piece and they don't even respond to her, instead they say to each other "she brought in more girls than guys, don't listen to her". She gets ticked and says "what the hell is your problem" on which she is kicked out of the club as well. They won't even let her back in to tell her friends that she can't even be a part of her own party.
We eventually got everyone out and went somewhere else. The people inside weren't too mad because they had been waiting for more drinks with absolutely nonresponsive staff inside. I think the way that this place gets anyone to stick around is by charging them giant entry fees and being located in the middle of nowhere so that no one has any options with out a cabride
- Pros: flashy interior
- Cons: expensive, rude staff, and bad service
Best place ever

The rooms in this club is cool with the lights on the ceiling. I think the people are beautiful and courteous.
- Pros: Lighting
Light system from outer space...

...but the sound is disappointing. Altogether great spot with immaculate decor. I guess they were concerned about the visual look of a thumping system. However the quality DJ lineup includes noteworthy locals Kate Simko etc. This place splits the difference between hipster hang, see-and-be-scene, and club type lounge.
- Pros: Light system, Decor
- Cons: Sound system
This place is just okay

Just to be clear, the review that said there is no cover is incorrect. We showed up at 9:30 and there was a $20 cover which is ludicrous for a bar- it's a BAR and not a dance club. I won't be back anytime soon- the crowd was very "green" and no real eye candy.
- Pros: Nice space, decent music
- Cons: $20 covers
Stylish, minimalist lounge lights up a dreary strip of warehouses along Fulton.

In Short
The entrance and foyer is lined in richly polished bamboo, a subtle accent found throughout the space. Walls and pillars are unadorned white so as not to distract from a central area, dramatically lit by thousands of LED lights that fire off in undulating waves over dancing hipsters. The bar is long, clad in sheet metal and back-lit and banks of bed-like lounge platforms, wide benches and perches line the perimeter.
