I've always been a skeptic of Chiropractic services until I was referred to Dr. Tom from a friend of mine when I injured my back a few years ago. Dr. Tom's full service is a LOT more than just adjusting your back; he's got everything from electronic stimulation, massage and acupressure. He's the best I've ever been to.

There is so much debate over whether or not chiropractors are "witch" doctors or amazing healers. I subscribe to the amazing healer category, especially after I went to see Dr. Donahue. I woke up one morning with crippling neck pain, my muscles were so locked up I couldn't even turn my neck. It persisted for weeks on end and no matter how much stretching i was doing, it never helped. I went to see two different massage therapist, I went to my acupuncturist on several occasions, I went to yoga religiously and nothing helped, I was literally in tears over the pain. I decided to find a chiropractor and found Dr Donahue on Citysearch. It was the best thing I have ever done for my health and well being. Within three sessions my neck pain lessened and I was able to turn my head with normal range of motion. After 2 more sessions I was feeling so great that Dr Donahue suggested that I come in every two weeks instead of every week. When you have your health back and you feel like yourself again, the world seems so much more wonderful and inviting. I have Dr Donahue to thank for that. He is patient, caring and knowledgable about his practice. He is someone who really wants to be there to help in your recovery and for that I cannot thank him enough.
Pros: Amazing Doctor, Friendly Staff, easy to get to location, L stop
Cons: None

As someone prone to "throwing out their back", I asked a friend if she would refer me to her chiropractor? She said emphatically "YES". So, that is how I started seeing Dr. Tom several years ago. Instead of getting me on a program of regularly coming in for adjustments and a slew of treatments I couldn't afford, he explained WHY I kept throwing my back out, taught me excercises to counteract my problems at the time (weak butt, ha.) and things got better! Flash forward a couple years, two days before my out of town wedding reception I threw my back out jumping off a hydraulic lift at work. Excruciating pain. The sort of pain you call your Mom "Mommy", and ask her to drive you to the doctor. Awful! I called, choked up, he got me right in, worked on my back, helped me figure out how to situate myself in the car for 5 1/2 hours while we drove to Michigan the next day - and I wasn't miserable for my wedding reception. He also kept up with what I did for a living, realized that my needs changed and explained different excercises for me work on now. This is a good man, and a great doctor with a kind heart.
Pros: right off the EL (when the Diversey stop is open), not hard to get an appt.
Cons: they aren't on my insurance list, but that's not their fault

I started seeing Dr Donahue a couple of years ago for a very painful bulging disc in my low back. I couldn't play my beloved hockey even once a week due to the pain. Dr Donahue had talked to me about what his office could offer and how he could get me back on the ice. I started coming in a couple times a week to do some strengthening and balance exercises. In addition, I was getting my muscles loosened by the massage therapist and an adjustment from Dr Donahue. After a couple months I was back to my normal activity level with little to no pain that I experience before the disc bulge. Since getting rid of the pain I have successfully trained and completed my first Triathlon. Unfortunately, I had to move to the east coast for work. Dr Donahue personally found a chiropractor in my new area. I now have business in the city about once a month so I schedule an appointment when I’m around. I asked Dr Donahue how I could thank him and he said tell others. I have and I am now telling you my story. I truly appreciate what he did for me. Joe B.
Pros: Got me back to being active

I have to agree with MikahPokeY, that there is some foul play here. I have a hunchback worse than Quasimodo, and nobody has been able to help me, even Phil Donahue. But I have to give credit where credit is due. This guy knows his stuff and I highly recommend him.
Pros: knowledgeable
Cons: couldnt help my hunchback

I've been looking for a Chiropractor since I moved back into the city. I wasn't having any luck until I found Dr. Donahue. He is so good. He helped me relieve my headaches and gave advice on how to prevent more from coming back. So far, so good. He and his office staff are friendly and outgoing. Katherine handled my insurance to make it hassle free for me. Liz the massage therapist has magic hands that just melt the tightness away. I'm glad I checked citysearch for a new chiro!
Pros: hours, takes insurance, don't have to go a million times

Dr Donahue could not have been more perfect in working with me and my pain. I was put at ease by Dr Tom who answered all my questions and concerns since it was my first experience with a Chiropractor and defiantly not my last. We went over exercises that helped my pain. The adjustment was actually quite pleasant and provided instant relief. I had such a great experience. I've called him on several instances he has always given me time and not rushed me off or returned my call in a resonable time. I recommend him to all looking for relief from their pain.
Pros: service, Dr Tom, confirmation calls, open saturdays
Cons: not open fridays

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a chiropractor or massage therapists. Dr. Donahue and his staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home! As a first time chiropractic patient, I was nervous about going for ongoing back and neck pain, but Dr. Donahue took a lot of time and explained the procedures, which helped assure me. I never felt pressured to make an appointment or lectured if I didn't do my exercises at home. I look forward to my visits with the massage therapists -- I leave feeling rejuvenated and without the knots in my shoulders and neck! Easy to get to location right off the Brown Line and convenient hours too!
Pros: Brown Line Location. Flexible hours. Friendly. Prompt.

I am a physician at a major academic medical center in Chicago. I have a torn lumbar disc and several other bulging discs. I had worsening low back and hip pain, progressing to 24 hours/day. I had a good chiropractor at home (out of state) and was seeking someone equal or better here. I was pleasantly surprised --Dr. Donahue's office surpassed my expectations. They were problem focused, and responsive to my specific concerns. They have range of treatments including therapeutic massage. The staff is professional and friendly, and eased any reservations I had initially. My pain and range of motion are greatly improved. I highly recommend this practice for anyone looking for a back/neck pain relief. I would recommend chiropractic consultation before getting any back injections and certainly before considering back surgery. Thanks, Dr. Donahue and staff!
Pros: professional, courteous
