I am so happy that Amy moved back and opened up on Central st. in Evanston. She moved away for two years and let me tell you, that was two years of bad cuts and hair trauma. She just has this way of doing hair. She listens and its almost as if she reads your mind, and you leave the salon feeling great. She is a fun person to visit with every six weeks as well. I recommend her to all of my friends and family. If you see her its well worth its price in gold.
Pros: easy to park, love the decor, relaxing environment
Cons: book in advance or is kinda hard to get in.

I have hair which has a hard time holding color. My hair was in terrible condition when I first came in. I've been there four times and I've loved my hair each time I leave - but after each visit it looks better each time and I'm convinced it's because of a)their artistry b) the way they listen and pay attention to what you're looking for and C) because each time you come in they are trying to get to know you and your hair and how it behaves and the context of your your life even better - so they are relationship-driven . You know you're in good hands when you walk in and you feel exhilarated when you leave. I always get compliments on my hair and how natural it looks.
Pros: Definitely thumbs up! Creative decor, relaxed and welcoming ambience, easy parking, great service. They care about their clientele and it shows in your hair.
Cons: They are moderately high-priced but you really feel you get your money's worth.

I visited Amy G's recently and had my haircut by Amy. It was the best haircut I have ever received. I have been to many different salons in the Chicago area, and Amy's is handsdown the best. Our consultation was great. She and I discussed a few different options for my hair and we decided together on a style that suited me, my face, and my ability to replicate (not good). My haircut is better than anything I had expected. After she was finished, she hooked me up with some sweet product and I left feeling like a million bucks but not spending it. Thanks Amy! Ill be back soon.
