Cutest Thai Restaurant w/ Awesome Food

by xopineapple71890xo

I went here with a group of friends on a Friday night and we were so impressed! First, the decor was delightful and romantic. The bright cheery orange of the walls and the multi-colored paintings were offset by dim candles flickering on every table and twinkling lights. The food did not disappoint either! The portions were not huge, but that isn't a problem, considering every other pan-Asian restaurant gives waaay too much for any one person to handle. I would recommend the Pad Thai, personally, because it was so delicious that everyone started eating it off of my plate. Other group favorites were the Orange Chicken, Garlic Noodles, and Beef Salad. Stay away from the Golden Curry, however, because it tasted like pumpkin soup. Other than that, I definitely advise paying Summer a visit!

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Food
  • Cons: none!

This sunny Edgewater storefront is a savior for locals in need of a spicy fix-especially on dreary days.

In Short
Cheery orange and white are refreshing contrast to the dense gray of this neighborhood. The space is brighter than other restaurants--no doubt a purposeful style decision. One side boasts an efficient row of tables, the other an exposed kitchen with a countertop for solo service. Locals, many just in from nearby CTA routes, pack both for heady to downright fiery noodle dishes, like the "Hot-Popeye," green strand noodles loaded with ground chilies, chili oil, spinach, curry spices, garlic and capsicum slivers.

Delicious curry

by kmg8421

We took guests who were having a craving for Thai to Summer, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the meal or the price. We had three delicious appetizers (the honey tofu was my favorite), and everyone enjoyed their meals, especially those of us who ordered the curry. The flavor was excellent, and the spiciness factor was perfect. I would definitely return to Summer in the future.

Good Things Come in Small Packages. Sometimes.

by jujubeanz

April 2008. We ordered delivery. The telephone order taking process was pleasant and efficient. The delivery was prompt and polite. The food was disappointing. Our first impression was, "My, such small portions!" But, then again, we are expert at throwing out left over Chinese, so smaller portions are okay. The food was hot and the presentation was colorful, but good things don't always come in small, colorful packages. The flavors were surprisingly bland, save for the chicken egg rolls (again miniature in size), which had a nice kick. All in all, an okay experience. Nothing to rave or complain about either which way. If you?re a ?greenie?, you?ll probably be a tad put off by the packaging. Styrofoam and plastics, except for the carrying bag, which as paper.
