Good, not great
by sue447
Good meatloaf, ribs, burgers, fish. Vegetables too salty, and don't bother with the breakfast.
- Pros: Good Grilled food
- Cons: breakfast buffet was awful!
Great food, even better service
by CSMobileUser
I went with a group of four to celebrate a special occasion. Our service was absolutely flawless. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were great. I have heard that this place was full of tourists and not to go there. I disagree. The food was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was crowded but enjoyable. I would recommend this to all local Chicagoans. It is great!
Not a great filet mignon. I make better at home
by AnnaB123
I took my daughter here last night for her birthday dinner. (The one in Lombard) after going to 2 other places and not wanting to wait 45 minutes for a table we navigated to the Weber Grill. The hostess told us the wait was 20-25 minutes but we waited much longer...okay, that happens. We had the artichoke and spinach dip, it was very good. We both had Filet Mignon, we asked for medium. One was medium well and one was well done. Very dry and flavorless so I took the server up on his offer and sent it back for a new one. By the time I got it my daughter was wrapping up the rest of hers so I had a few bites and brought the rest home. I was completely disappointed with the steak. Flavorless and I don't believe it was of a $30.00 quality. I'd expect a dry aged for that price. I make a better steak at home! I originally wanted to go to JAlexanders but my daughter didn't want to wait. It's a pity we didn't. The steaks there are of superb quality and the wood fire gives it an awesome taste. The price is the same but the food is so much better. I don't know why anybody would waste their time and precious money at the Weber Grill. I will not be a regular customer of the place. They need some fine tuning. The best part of my visit was my server. He was excellent. Two thumbs down!!
Good Food but got screwed!!
by markmurphy55
i just now came from there and got a screwing on my meal. they didnt have the ribeye on the menu, said that had quit serving it. i was getting ready to order the new york strip which is always a little more expensive than a ribeye and the waitress told us that they did have the ribeye. i thought that was great!! my steak come and it was alright, not as good as last time i had eaten there, alot of fat on it but i didnt complain. then they brought my bill and the steak was 37.00, thought it was a mistake and asked the waitress and she said it was so expensive because it was there specialty!! the new york strip was 25.00 so i guess the ribeye was special because it was so dang expensive!! i wont be back for my next chicago trip!!!!
Great food, Great atmosphere

You want an awesome steak? This is the place. I was just there with my fiancee and some relatives and friends and we had a great time. The steak was to delicious. I got the skirt steak. My fiancee got the pulled pork and that was really good too. They did mess up on my friends order giving her something different but they were very apologetic and fixed the problem quickly. Other than that it was a great dining experience.
- Pros: Great food
Great chili and chicken!!
by heyantony
I have been numerous times to Weber Grill, not only at the State St location, but in the burbs. The food is consistently excellent(I would highly recommend the chili and the beercan chicken) to anyone. The place does get busy, but the staff gets you seated quickly. Definitely make this a next place to eat!!
- Pros: Very good service and excellent barbecue
great place for burnt filet
by goosemonkey
Our server was fantastic, but the food was terrible. I got the filet medium to medium rare, which was good, but I could literally taste the burn of the grill marks on my steak. It's a shame...seemed like such a quality piece of meat, but then you burn it and completely ruin the flavor. There have got to be better steak places in Chicago.
It was actually my second time there, so shame on me. I remember not being all that impressed the first time either.
Crowded as hell
by jennann429
I visited the Weber Grill the week of NeoCon, which was probably the reason why it was so crowded... the servers could not get through the crowd by the door and in the bar. I was dining alone, and while the wait was only 30-40 minutes (which surprised me) I was able to find a table in the bar instead. The server was very competent, friendly, and fast despite the crowd. However the food wasn't that great. The garlic mashed potatoes were probably the best I've ever had, but the teriyaki salmon was absolutely drowned in sauce. The only reason I knew I was eating fish was the flakiness of the meat. I couldn't taste anything beyond the teriyaki. The key lime cheesecake is served not in slices, but in SLABS, and it isn't really very good. I might still visit here again to try something else on the menu.
- Pros: Service, selection of beer, location in Hilton Garden Inn
- Cons: Over-seasoned food
Worst service of my entire life.
by afleming9577
We had lunch service for 12 on Sunday and it was the worst service and food that I've ever experienced. Here's an overview:
11:30 AM - Group seated, appetizer and drink orders taken by waiter.
11:50 AM - Drinks served, when asked about placing the entree order, we were told that he was not our waiter.
12:00 PM - A diner from our party sought out a waiter to take our entree order.
12:10 PM - Entree order taken and appetizers served, more drinks were requested.
12:30 PM - We asked for a manager, we told her of the problems, she said she'd look into it. She came back and told us that the waiter that took our food order was now assigned to our table.
12:50 PM - Entrees were still not served, I sought out the same manager and asked about the food order, she told me that we were the "next ticket out."
1:00 PM - I sought out the manager again and asked to speak to her manager. Her manager told us that the host station sat us in a section that did not have waiters and that's why we had the service issues.
1:15 PM - When the waiter brought the check, i noticed that we were being charged a 18% gratuity due to our party size. Since we received such poor service, I asked the waiter to take the forced gratuity off of the bill. He argued with me and said "It's not my fault, it was the host station." I told him that I wanted to see the manager again.
1:20 PM - When the waiter did not return, I went to the host station to find our check and saw the waiter and the manager arguing over the bill. When we got the bill, the manager said she would offer us gift cards, but she knew that we could take that as an insult and assumed we were not planning on coming back to the restaurant.
With regards to the food, the hamburgers were not properly cooked (one was requested as well and came out as medium, it needed to be sent back) and did not have any grilled flavor. Also, the New York Strip salad basically tasted like cold roast beef on a bed of lettuce.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Service was terrible
Weak even for corporate food
by SCK114
I went on a week night with a friend, and was seated quickly with prompt service. Both of us ordered the baby back ribs, and both thought they were over cooked. The meat was dry what you got if it because the slab was small with little meat on it. The rest was tough and chewy overcooked. The sides of cornbread and baked beans were very good. It was not so terrible that I would not go gain, but maybe I'll order an over seasoned steak next time.
- Pros: Quick service
- Cons: Dry food
