I went to Medieval Times on Saturday night with a group of work friends for a bday. It turned out really great! The food was yummy and they kept you eating the whole time. Everyone seemed to have a great time and I highly recommend it for groups
Good show, bad food
by rashad83
IN two quick sentences the show is awesome and it's worth a shot, but a BIG NO NO for the food and this is an honest review,i've been to all kinds of places when it comes to food.me and my wife have a taste for good food but i didn't get it here at all. we went to Wendy's after that, no kidding.
- Pros: Good show
- Cons: horrible and too little food
AMAZING!

I don't agree with the bad reviews. This show is definitely NOT overpriced. For the admission fee you get a four-course meal, a 2 1/2 hour show, and you're able to come look around the castle and hour and a half before showtime and afterwards, too! Normally you pay the same price for just the show in other places. Sometimes the food is complained about as being bland, but I didn't agree at all. It was authentic AND delicious. The chicken wasn't overspiced, as I often find with similar dishes, and you get so much food that you can barely finish it all. I've also had the vegetarian plate, which was still delicious and ample. People do walk past offering to sell items, but they aren't forced upon you as said, they would only stop if you asked them to, and they were pretty entertaining- a few of them were dancing to the theme music! They were only there for the first half of the show, they left for the really important parts. Everyone who works there seems to really enjoy it, and there was always a barmaid walking around if you didn't want to get up and leave the show to get an additional drink. The entertainment was riveting- you can actually see the sparks flying from the weapons! I do staged combat in classes, and I can't imagine the training they must've gone through to be so precise with their actions. Afterwards, there was a fun little dance floor called the "Knight Club", and you can meet the royalty and the knights. The torture museum was really cool, too. You wouldn't believe the stuff that's in there! Everyone I talked to was really polite and seemed to be enjoying their work, and enjoying their coworkers as well. I have a friend who works there who said that not only is the Schaumburg location the largest of all the Medieval Times restaurants, but is at the top of the lists for cleanliness and service. They get you really involved and even my reserved, picky mother was standing and cheering, as well as devouring the food. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!
- Pros: Good parking, accessible and near other large attractions, plenty of room and good service
- Cons: The tiered stadium requires handicapped persons to sit in the top row, and anyone having problems with strobe-like lights shouldn't attend.
A basic meal in a pretend castle: A hoot for young folk and unabashed adults.

The Scene
The tiered stadium has nearly 1,500 seats, which provide perches for plates and ringside views of the equine demonstrations and tournament. Everyone gets a paper crown color-coded to match costumes worn by the various "knights." After the horses run through their paces, the jousting begins. Matches start tamely but escalate to a fight to the finish as mock knights engage in skirmishes with swords, javelins, maces and axes. Sparks fly, but nobody gets hurt.
The Food
Don't expect a regal feast. A basic one-size-fits-all meal starts with a hunk of bread and a bowl of bland vegetable-rice soup. Next comes a roasted half of under-seasoned chicken and a single unremarkable spare rib atop a plain Jane baked potato half. For dessert, you've got one choice, and it's a non-event: a paltry apple pastry with very little apple. Wash it down with cola or coffee served by your "wench of the day."
Great fun for family or special occasions... A little pricey but this is not your everyday dinner.

Went with wife and our two children. The kids LOVED it! The show is approximately 2.5 hours long and revolves around medieval king and his knights. Tables are in sections and represented by a knights color. The dinner is served during the introduction and the story unfolds with performances and games. After dinner the story evolves into finale of jousting and sword-fighting.
The dinner is supposed to be authentic medieval served with NO silverware. Non-alcoholic beverages are included in dinner. Alcoholic drinks are available for extra charge. There are souvenirs as well, but they are not forced upon you in any way. Expect to pay at least $100 for basic treatment and more for the add-ons.
Like I said, the kids loved it. If you are near a Medieval Times, I would recommend going at least once. You won't be sorry.
- Pros: GREAT FUN! Entertaining! Unique experience! Would Highly Recommend!
- Cons: NONE!

Had it's highs and lows

I've been to Medieval Times twice.
I'm a vegitarian. The menu says vegetable soup, however, the first time I went there the server told me the soup had a chicken base and asked if I still wanted it, I didn't.
The second time the server didn't say anything, she just filled my soup bowl. Luckely I knew from the first time the soup wasn't vegitarian. That kind of got to me.
The tip not being included also bugged me. They ask for 20%, but I just don't see a reason behind it. they're not waitors, they're not taking orders, they pass the stuff out and disapear. You can't even get a refill when you want it.
Speaking of refills. They say you get two drinks with your meal. But they just top off your glass, so if you didn't drink much, you're out of luck.
- Pros: Free parking, easy to find, good show
- Cons: , tons of "extras", so so service.
Waste of Menu

Only the village idiot would return for a second visit. Way over priced!! Once inside I got tired of being hit up for all the extras. Basic admission was $46 per person for a bland meal and some fair entertainment. Once at the door, you are hit up for an additional $5 per person to sit in the first three rows and receive a cheap flag and/or an additional $2 to walk thru the dungeon. A waiter walked by every 20 minutes or so and put some bland food on your plate. If you wanted any drinks etc you had to get up and get them yourself. Someone was always walking by trying to sell you something. Entertainment was fair.
